Industry Insight | Global Aerial Work Platform Market Revealed: JLG Retains Top Spot, Chinese Brands on the Rise

Recently, Access International, a magazine under KHL Group, released the 2024 AccessM20 ranking of the world's top aerial work platform (AWP) manufacturers. The results show that JLG (USA) retains its top position with an annual revenue of USD 3.0445 billion (approximately RMB 22 billion), followed by Terex AWP (Genie) in second place. Five Chinese manufacturers—XCMG, Dingli, Zoomlion, Sinoboom, and LGMG—ranked in the global top ten, underscoring their growing international competitiveness.

China's Rapid Growth

By the end of 2024, China's AWP market inventory exceeded 750,000 units, approaching the scale of the North American market. The rankings highlight:

Sinoboom and LGMG: Ranked 9th and 10th, respectively, further increasing their presence in overseas markets.

XCMG: Ranked 3rd globally with USD 1.3883 billion in sales, maintaining its position as China's market leader. The company is driving growth through new energy products and intelligent manufacturing, with award-winning electric boom lifts launched in 2024.

Dingli: Ranked 4th globally, continuing to expand its product portfolio and accelerate its global dealer network.

Zoomlion: Ranked 5th globally with USD 1.0933 billion in sales, up 23.4% year-on-year, launching record-breaking models including the ZT82J—the tallest telescopic boom lift in the world.

The Global Champion – JLG

Founded in the late 1960s and headquartered in Pennsylvania, USA, JLG became a subsidiary of Oshkosh Corporation in 2006. Its portfolio covers telescopic boom lifts, articulating boom lifts, scissor lifts, and vertical lifts, serving customers worldwide.
JLG operates manufacturing facilities in the USA, Belgium, and Tianjin, China. Since its Tianjin plant began operations in 2010, over 100,000 units have been delivered globally. In 2025, several "China-designed, China-made" strategic models are set for mass production, further strengthening its global supply chain.

Conclusion:

The global AWP industry is now characterized by steady growth from international leaders and rapid advances from Chinese brands. With accelerating technological innovation, smart manufacturing, and the shift to new energy, competition in the global market is set to become more diversified and high-end.
